Stay The Fuck Away From Derivatives.

Even after all this, markets are in no way anywhere near to fair value. So, we need even more bloodletting.

Remember that around the world, the garbage products known as Derivatives-based are in the quadrillions so when they blow up, which they eventually will do, you'll likely lose almost everything. Most people haven't got a clue that some ETFs are based on derivative contracts: think base and precious metal, leveraged and inverse ETFs. So, be exceedingly careful.

Of course, regular ETFs will replicate the index so no more safety there than being in the underlying stocks when it's bath time. Ditto for mutual funds, unless the stock-picker is God himself.

That's why for precious metals, physical is always a good idea but not if the premiums are ridiculously high -- and don't store meaningful quantities of same at home. Use the brand name storage facilities. Then look over closed end funds such as trusts, which are based on physical. And finally there's the world of mutual funds and individual stocks.

I'm buying trusts and stocks where the legends of precious and base metal investment are pretty much all in, either as part of management or with a substantial weight of the stock already in hand. I'm also letting the high quality stocks and royalty companies come to me, as Rick Rule would say, and buying them on sale. (This is my favourite part.)

So...keep your head, keep your cool, and know why you're buying and selling. Try never to sell because you have to and as much as you can, don't ever buy anything on margin. That, in and of itself, can quite literally wipe you out.

May God and the Force be with all of you.

Boom!, Down They Go.

The adjusted Ten Year Yield closed at 3.366. That tells you a few things: the actual inflation rate is somewhere between 16 and 18 percent, not 8.6 percent. That means credit markets are well on their way to seizing up and so, stock markets will continue falling -- just wait until Wednesday when the next interest rate hike is likely to be 0.75 or maybe, just maybe, a full percentage point.

The other point is that recency bias won't work this time. How can The Fed choke or reverse course when inflation continues to gallop ahead? So...The Fed incompetents and inflation creators can't do anything but continue raising rates, period.

Remember to cool inflation and hopefully reverse it, the FFR has to be above the inflation rate. That's what Volcker did. Otherwise, QT just won't work.

The next mine on the road will be whether stagflation, where we are now, throws the economy into a "technical" recession. Normally, that would put us on a deflationary course but that won't happen so long as inflation's trajectory continues to rise. (Sorry, Cathie.)

So what am I doing? I'm buying precious and base-metal royalty companies and moving up the food chain when it comes to large cap, dividend gold, silver and uranium stocks. Buying physical is also a good idea so long as you don't have to pay ridiculously high premiums.

That's my stock market insurance. We'll see if it works or not over the medium term.

CPC Memberships: "Irrelevant"?

Looks like our campaign is going through a round of cognitive dissonance. I mean, you can't comment on your opponent's so called inflated numbers -- PierreInflationTM and then claim that your own numbers are basically irrelevant because the leadership will be decided by a points system per riding. Come again?

Poilièvre claims to have sold 312,000 and Brown 150,000. Charest has chosen not to release his numbers. I don't know about you but that tells me that our campaign is at best behind and not anywhere close to substantially narrowing that gap. Incredibly bad political tactics but hey, that's what you get when your strategists are off, to put it nicely...

So, when Coyne says Charest is either in third or fourth, your first reaction is skepticism and disbelief but when you see how Charest is sketching out this race in public, then you really start to get very seriously concerned.

Frankly, I know my party all too well and from what I can see and have heard, it's already over for us. Now it's only a question whether Poilièvre wins on the first or second ballot. That's more than likely CPC reality.

So Long Joe in 2024.

Well, the ruination of the American economy is seemingly still top of mind -- imagine that being the case. The United States is very likely in stagflation now with its almost inevitable twin just turning the corner. You know, a recession.

So...that's going to cook Joe's goose in 2024 but hey, Joe asked for it in spades by re-nominating the head incompetent, or if you prefer, Powell. For Christ's sake, all and I mean all FOMC members should have been summarily sacked along with Yellen, period.

Their policies including monetary creation and the digitization of new currency was an inevitable inflation creator. Everyone knew that going in but they went ahead anyway. And Biden did zip to reverse course. You see, when you take your economic pain early, you have less to endure over a shorter time frame but when you do diddly, you get what you get, ever increasing inflation that yes, could quite conceivably last a decade or more.

In short, there goes the House and Senate this fall and so goes Biden in 24. For a while there, a lot of us thought the Supremes had given Biden a gift but abortion rights ain't resonating the way so many of us thought it would. That means huge Republican gains are in the country's future, come hell or high water. Thanks Joe for blowing it for yourself, not to mention all Dems in Congress. Great fucking job.

Is Poilièvre Tone Deaf?

So far, in this race, absolutely. Can he be stopped? Nope he can't. Is the next election the third that we'll blow in a row? You bet we will unless Pierre gets Canadian religion, you know, the place where the voters vote. Sorry Pierre but populism is not your ticket to the PMO. So far, you're no Doug Ford so your brand of so-called populism won't cut the mustard. Right now, you're more like the failed Harper of 2015, you know, Jenni's last race, at least for most of that campaign.

So...you have a choice: meaning change pragmatically or prepare to be welcomed to the Scheer and O'Toole rank of failures. Think I'm full of shit? I don't think so, as you and Jenni will likely find out, probably much later down the road than sooner.

While English Canada Sleeps...Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.

It's so much fun being right (once again). In four words: Caroline St-Hilaire, Bernard Drainville. More proof, as if any actually was needed that the sovereignist leopard never really changed its spots.

I said long ago that I didn't trust Legault further than I can throw him. Now, all the CAQ has to do is give the final coup de barre to the PQ. And then by magic, the CAQ becomes the new and improved PQ.

So, thanks again English Canada for sleeping at the switch -- and not giving us a truly pan-Canadian constitution. The end of Canada is nigh, first from a Trudeau who betrayed the concept of Canada by imposing a sham constitution on Quebec and then by another Trudeau who will eventually preside over the demise of Canada.

A PM with a brain would have ceded all jurisdiction over immigration to Quebec but not before establishing a national framework that Quebec agreed to, before that power was transferred. But Justin just blew another one, as is his habit and in went another nail into the Canadian federation.

Others will be crying when Canada ultimately goes down the tubes. I'll be laughing for all the federal level bunglers who quite deliberately threw this country away, mostly by inaction but also by incredibly stupid action. Canada and her people will get what they so richly deserve -- the end of Canada.
