Like you've said, Caroline, successful politics is all about addition, not subtraction. It's about growing the tent and bridging differences, and Pierre will never be part of that common sense reality. For PP, life generally and politics in particular are nothing more than a zero-sum game where the PP ideology wins while everyone else in the party loses. It's the Scheer mindset on steroids. And if you don't beat that drum and meet PP's ideological purity mindset and party litmus test, then you're either dismissed as a faux conservative or just gone.
So with respect, Caroline, don't waste your breath on Pierre Poilièvre because that's an exercise in futility. It's like repeatedly hitting your head on the wall just for fun! This guy is hopeless. And then he wonders why, among Canadians generally and with potential voters, his personal favorability or Best PM rating is consistently in the basement at 30+%.
PP lost the last election, and he most assuredly will lose us the next one. That's what being PP is all about. Nothing more. He can spin his wheels till the cows come home and constantly run his mouth, but this party is going precisely nowhere as long as we continue to have the misfortune of putting up with him as leader. I know it, you know it, and more importantly, no one knows it better than Pierre Poilièvre himself.
Last year, he said publicly that he might lose, and of course, he did. Same thing coming in spades again in late fall.
